John Sancin's Background and History
A
product of the technology revolution, John Sancin began his career as a
computer technician in the early seventies. It didn't take him
long to climb the corporate ladder at Digital Equipment
Corporation where, among other positions,
he served as Worldwide Customer Services Marketing Manager. When
PCs were introduced in the early eighties, he wrote “The
Incredible Shrinking Computer”, a how to book on personal
computers.
John left Digital to join Electronic Engineering Co. as Vice
President of Marketing. During his first six months, he designed
and introduced a new service program that doubled service
revenues. A year later, Norstan purchased the Company and
shortly after he was promoted to Vice President of Marketing for
Norstan Inc. John Sancin was instrumental in setting the Company’s
product direction, developing the marketing strategy and
directing the creation of all promotional programs.
Looking for an opportunity to make a big difference in a small
company, John
shifted his career focus back to the computer
industry and joined an anti-virus and systems security software
company, Certus International, as Executive Vice President of
Marketing. With a minimal marketing budget and small marketing
staff, he increased sales by 250 percent within six months and
was promoted to president. John stayed with Certus until
Symantec made an unsolicited offer to buy the Company.
"The most impacting event on our business over the last
20 has been the computer. The 2nd is John Sancin. With
his marketing savvy our business has grown 50 percent
over the last 3 years! John's ability to break down our
business into components allowed us to define ourselves
and where we were going."

After the Certus acquisition, John formed his own company,
Market.al. Inc., providing businesses with full service
marketing ranging from strategic business plans to marketing
programs and supporting material. John’s passion for technology
and marketing moved the company into the Internet business
making John one of the early Web development pioneers. During
his ten plus years with the company, John Sancin provided consulting
and strategic plan development for dozens of businesses ranging
from start-ups to Fortune 500 organizations.
In 2003, John and his family made the decision to move from
Cleveland, Ohio to Siesta Key, Florida. He sold his company to
Cleveland based Shamrock Companies. Soon after the sale, John
was approached by a number of companies interested in consulting
services. Within a few months, he entered into engagement
agreements with Solutient, US Bank, and PestPatrol, an
anti-spyware software company. John's consulting arrangement
with PestPatrol quickly evolved into a full time position that
resulted in his promotion to COO. John's work with PestPatrol
brought the company to a whole new level that gained industry
wide attention. PestPatrol was purchased by Computer Associates
and John again offers his experience in business and marketing
as an independent consultant.
After
his engagement with Pest Patrol, John once again worked as a
business consultant developing strategies and plans for G.E.P.'s Branson Creek residential community and marketing plan development and implementation for
Passfaces authentication software. John completely restructured
Passfaces and was ultimately asked by the Company's board of
directors to serve as the Company's outsourced President and COO.
During his time at Passfaces, John brought the Company out of
non-existence gaining worldwide recognition for the Company and
its technology.
